ROAS Target is a feature available under the ‘Maximise GMV’ bidding strategy in Live Ads.
Shopee will recommend 3 ROAS Target values for different use cases:
- Lower Recommended ROAS Target: selecting this will allow our system to gain the most competitive results, targeting towards delivering as many potential buyers as possible for your live ads
- Optimal Recommended ROAS Target: selecting this will optimise performance towards a balanced Ads Spend usage rate, and advertises your live ads campaigns to potential buyers who are more likely to purchase your product
- Higher Recommended ROAS Target: for more conservative Advertisers, we recommend setting this value to better control Ads Spend. However, this may mean your ad will not deliver and generate as many impressions and your Daily Budget might not get maximised and you may stand to lose potential buyers
- Customise your own ROAS Target: for sellers that prefer to set your own ROAS target
Why should I use ROAS Target?
- With ROAS Target, you can gain more control over how your budget is optimised
- ROAS Target set up will continuously optimise your ad as the system gains more insight on historical performance, and is likely to perform closer to your set target over a longer period of time
- It is recommended to maintain the same target over a period of time so that the system is able to better optimise towards the target
How do I set ROAS Target?
You may set ROAS Targets for your live ads campaign by creating a Live Ad with ‘Maximise GMV’ as the bidding strategy.

Setting ROAS Target for a New Live Ad
- From Shopee Ads Homepage, navigate to create a new Ad and select Live Ads
- After completing the Basic Settings and selecting Maximise GMV as the bidding strategy, click on Custom to set your own ROAS Target
Setting ROAS Target for an Existing Live Ad
- From Shopee Ads Homepage, navigate to the Live Ad and click on it to enter the Live Ads Detail page
- Ensure that you are on the Maximise GMV bidding strategy to set your own ROAS Target
- For Live Ads with previous historical Maximise GMV bidding strategy Ads performance, you should check your historical overall ROAS performance in the last 7 days as a benchmark to set your ROAS Target goals
How to monitor and optimise Target ROAS Performance?
- Schedule your Live ad within your stream time. This ensures that our system will spend your budget appropriately.
- During the initial phase, you may expect to see some performance fluctuations as the system is learning to optimise towards your ROAS Target during this period
- We strongly recommend that you do not edit this value or your budget setting during this time (at least 7 days) to allow our system to complete its optimisation
- Once the performance has stabilised, it is recommend to monitor performance and update ROAS Target every month for optimisation practice
- You should monitor your overall ROAS performance in a selected time period (eg: last 7 days)
- ROAS Target is not guaranteed (eg: if ad is low quality or ROI set is too high), and could differ depending on the Live ads campaign (eg: ads competitiveness in different time periods)
